"Beauty" Collage & Poem
The collage features images of wide expanses of pink and purple skies, far reaches of mountainous lands, swaths of autumnal leaves, micro- and macroscopic light, and a few animals.
Featured in Vol. 1, Issue 20 of the Weather Aboveground newsletter.
With the accompanying poem, "Beauty Is":
"
beauty is
a sunrise
climbing up from behind mountaintops
beaming through purple clouds
while you realize
the earth is just turning its face away
beauty is
a hillside
illuminated and alive
dressed in gradients you could never dream of
while you realize
the leaves are just saying goodbye
beauty is
a streetlight
flickering on and off as you pass
a perfectly-timed message just for you
while you realize
you're not the only one looking for signs
beauty is
a drop of resin
pouring down tree bark
forming thick crystalline tears that catch the light
while you realize
you both have skin that bleeds
beauty is
a sunset
cloaking landscapes in dusty colors
striking mirrored surfaces pink
while you realize
you will soon be draped in darkness
